Rise Up: Unleashing the Unstoppable Power of African American Women Encouraging Each Other

African American women are a powerful force of resilience and inspiration. Our history of struggle and triumph fuels a vibrant network of support, transforming lives daily. In this blog post, we honor their collective strength and discover how we uplift one another in numerous inspiring ways.

A Legacy of Strength

The story of African American women is one of incredible strength and activism. Historical figures like Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth not only fought for freedom but also set a foundation for future generations. In my own life, I do not have to look as far back as these courageous women in history. For me, I am blessed to have an uplifting group of Sister/Friends on whom I can rely to keep me encouraged. Although I am basically a loner, I rejoice in knowing that although my Sister/Friends may be a distance away, they are also just a prayer and a phone call away. That is a huge blessing. Our relationships are deeply rooted in communal support. Friendships, networking, and shared experiences create an environment where everyone can flourish, revealing the power of collaboration and cooperation.

Celebrating Sisterhood

Last week, I felt the immense beauty of what it means to be a member of a Sister/Friend bond. My daughter and I were both recuperating at home from a surgery and an illness. We were blessed to have a warm and comfortable home, ample food, and the basics to promote healing. A Sister/Friend was visiting her sister, who lives nearby my home, for Thanksgiving. The moment my friend arrived in town, she contacted me, and within the hour, she was at my door with a Thanksgiving Day feast. She dashed away to join her own family around the Thanksgiving table. That is an act of love to be celebrated. The following day, she and her sister swooped by and left even more groceries! As if that were not enough, the day after that, my friend returned and visited me and my daughter. "What a fellowship! What a joy divine!" In our conversation, there was joy, laughter, empathy, understanding, reflection, prayer, and healing. We all felt the incredible power of unity. This sisterhood shows up when Sister/Friends commune together to strengthen our bonds. "Iron sharpens iron."

Creating Visible Impact

In my book, COLLECTION PLATE, through five short fictional stories, I reinforce the themes that help African American women increasingly leave a mark in various walks of life. We are relentless in our pursuits of excellence, simply by giving life and each other our best. We inspire countless others to dream and act big. In our daily lives, we embody the themes of COLLECTION PLATE; we demonstrate deliverance, resilience, faith, joy, hope and wisdom. We become a visible impact in and on the lives of other Sister/Friends. We dig deep and give of ourselves richly. We create an impact. We motivate simply by being the amazing women we are in our every day existence.

This unwavering support forms the foundation of empowerment. Together, African American women rise above adversity, create change, and build a brighter future for all.
